Bona Privacy Policy
Before you scroll, read this. It’s hard to make everyone happy with a Privacy Policy. Most Bona users want something short and clear. While we wish we could fit everything into a single sentence, regulations require us to explain in detail. We’ve written this as simply as possible to help you understand and control what information we collect, how we use it, and when it’s shared. So if you skip reading every word, at least know this: You give some data, we process some data — in return, Bona helps you achieve your health goals like tracking weight, recognizing meals, and chatting with your AI companion. You control what you share.1. Information We Collect
The information we collect when you use Bona falls into three categories. 1.1 Information you provide us. When you create or use your Bona account, you may provide: • Account Information: email address, password, display name, date of birth, and sign-in method (Apple, Google, etc.). • Health Data: weight records, calorie goals, and wellness preferences. • Photos: when you take or upload pictures for food recognition. • Voice and Text Inputs: when you talk or chat with Bona. • Payment Information: if you subscribe to premium features. • Preferences: such as reminder and language settings.
1.2 Information we collect automatically. When you use Bona, we automatically collect: • Usage Data: how you interact with the app (screens, features, session duration). • Device Information: device model, IP address, operating system, and app version. • Location Data: approximate location for local weather or meal suggestions (if enabled). • Log Data: crash reports, diagnostics, and system activity. • Cookies and similar technologies: to improve app performance and remember preferences.
1.3 Information from third parties. When you use third-party login or integrations: • Google Sign-In / Apple ID: to simplify authentication. • Health integrations: with your consent, Bona may access limited data from Apple HealthKit or Google Fit. • AI Service Providers: see below for Gemini-related processing.
1.4 Information processed by Google Gemini AI. To power chat, voice, and photo-recognition features, Bona uses Google Gemini API services. When you send text, voice, or image data for AI analysis: • Your input may be securely transmitted to Google servers for processing. • Google may temporarily store anonymized data to maintain or improve its AI systems. • Bona does not share identifying account information (such as your email or name) with Google. • All transmissions are encrypted and handled under Google’s Privacy Policy and Gemini API Terms. By using these AI-powered features, you consent to this processing as part of Bona’s core functionality.2. How We Use Information
We use the information we collect for several purposes: 2.1 Operate and personalize Bona. We deliver and tailor services to help you track your progress, recognize meals, and interact naturally with your AI companion. 2.2 Enable AI interactions. Your text, voice, or image inputs are processed through Google Gemini to provide smart responses and recognition. 2.3 Improve performance. We analyze usage patterns, fix issues, and enhance functionality. 2.4 Communicate with you. We send updates, reminders, progress summaries, or product changes. 2.5 Ensure safety. We detect misuse, prevent fraud, and comply with legal obligations. 2.6 Research and analytics. We study anonymized trends to improve Bona’s experience. We do not sell or rent your personal information.3. Sharing Information
You should know how and when we share your data. 3.1 With trusted service providers. We share limited data with service providers that support Bona operations — including cloud hosting, payment processing, analytics, and Gemini AI. 3.2 With your consent. When you connect Bona to other services or share your data voluntarily. 3.3 For legal or safety reasons. We may disclose data if required by law, or to protect our rights, property, or users’ safety. 3.4 In case of business transfer. If Bona is merged, acquired, or reorganized, your data may be transferred under the same policy.4. How Long We Keep Information
• Account and health data are stored while your account remains active. • AI input data (text, voice, images) are kept only as long as necessary for analysis. • Deleted accounts are fully removed within 30 days, except where legally required. • Gemini-processed data follow Google’s own retention practices.5. Take Control
You’re in charge of your data. 5.1 Access and correction. You can access, correct, or update your profile and preferences in the app at any time. 5.2 Deletion. You can delete your account in Settings → Privacy → Delete Account. Once deleted, your Bona profile and records will be removed within 30 days. 5.3 Permissions. You can disable camera, microphone, or location access in your device settings. 5.4 Opt-out and consent withdrawal. You may unsubscribe from promotional emails or stop using AI features at any time.6. International Data Transfers
Your information may be processed on servers located in other countries. We apply encryption and contractual protections to safeguard your data in compliance with applicable privacy laws.7. Changes To This Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. If major changes occur, we’ll notify you via app message or email before they take effect. The most current version will always be available in the app and on our website.8. How To Contact Bona
